The Tarotcast – February 14, 2017

We’re into the detail – the practicalities, the minutiae – of your life with today’s reading.

“Where are you going? And who’s going with you?”

Nine of Disks, Three of Wands, Ten of Disks from The Röhrig Tarot deck, created by Carl-W. Röhrig © US Games, Inc. Click on the image for a larger version.

About 11 years ago, I was sitting in a room listening to Neale Donald Walsch ask the two questions above. Since then, my life has changed, and so have my beliefs. But those words still stand true:

“Where are you going? And who’s going with you?”

And, as Walsch pointed out, you cannot transpose the two questions: the first one has to come first, and the second, second. Otherwise the emphasis of the enquiry changes. And so does your journey.

Choose where you’re going first; then choose who is going to accompany you. If, instead, you choose your travelling companions over your path, then what you’ll find is that you’ll be walking someone else’s path, dancing to someone else’s tune. Living someone else’s life.

Because there are others involved. The Nine of Disks illustrates this with the presence of three stationary figures, and not just the sole traveller of the Three of Wands. These others have a strong influence – it feels like a supportive influence, and one that offers a kind of security that may well extend into your physical environment.

Look at the Nine of Disks a bit closer. Who are you in that picture, if anyone? And who are the other figures, whether you’re there or not? And what does this all mean to you? And how do you feel when you look at the card? Not “how do you think,” but how do you feel? What feelings coming up in you – in your body – are encapsulated by the Nine of Disks?

More questions:

  • Why are you, and/or they, standing there?
  • What are you and/or they looking at?
  • What is the significance of the shell?

Now that I look more closely, I see the ‘foot’ of a snail carved out of the rock beneath the nautilus-like shell. But the shell is upside-down.

Where is home and what is home, and how does it hold you?

Because, you see, there is a journey coming up. Not necessarily a geographical one, but, whatever it is, it is going to be creative. And fiery (Sun in Aries). It will speak to new beginnings; a going your own way.

So, now that you have the foundational context of the Nine of Disks, where is it that you are going? And who is going with you?

And how do you stay true to your own vision as you walk the path of Virtue? Let’s not conflate “virtue” with anything moral as much as likening it to a felt truth and purity of focus that keeps a hero/ine on their own inner trajectory.

When you do this, you find that home is as much a place inside you as it is one that is outside. With foundations that have integrity – in other words, foundations that align with something that feels essentially your own – then you can walk that road as much as you like, for as long as you like, with whomever you like.

Paradoxically (of course, there’s always the paradox), what you are heading towards is a realisation of a particular material plan or dream, but at the same time it is paving the way for a new beginning.

The Ten of Disks is the pinnacle of manifestation. It is the experience of what you have been working towards, whether you know you have been working towards something or not. It will have an effect on your tangible world.

The Ten of Disks is also the end of the line, or a change of state. To use a literal example, imagine you’ve spent a great deal of time accumulating money in your savings account. The Ten of Disks is the moment where you go to the bank and withdraw it all. In this moment, your time of accumulating is over, and now is the time to convert what you have accumulated (money) into something else.

As the final numbered card in the Tarot deck, the Ten of Disks speaks of a transformation from matter into what lies next: Wands, the beginning again, and something more fiery, lighter, mobile, creative. To extend the analogy, you now have cash to burn.

So what are you going to do with what you have been squirrelling away, traveller? Where are your foundations? Where are you going, and who is going with you? Back to the Three of Wands, and that path between the two more solid Disks cards that feel like a channel through which you, the fiery initiate, passes.

These two cards – the Nine and the Ten – have stood you in good stead if you have let them. And if you haven’t, there is still time. Sun in Aries. The period of roughly the last week in March to the last week in April. A gateway of sorts. One that may not be literal as much as energetic, or an inroad into the use of your creative resources.

So. Where are you going? And who’s going with you?

The Tarotcast – February 14, 2017

Well well, so I am faced with myself and what I fear. Uprooted, without a man to assist me. That’s not true, I have two men in my life, like the card, but now that I have to move, I have the choice, stay with the gay roommate and continue exploration of a healing path, or give into my ex and move in with him, giving up my freedom , control, and lack of true emotional support. I gather this is a message of, is either my dream come true, or is my dream upside down in the shell ( the cancerian shell), waiting for me to claim it as manifesting within the adventure of a new life ahead

Thank you Sarah. This reading speaks to me as I’ve been feeling a shift away from being overly invested in my young son’s story of ill health. I was starting to get lost in that story.

Just yesterday I realised that I need to start separating our stuff a bit. What’s mine and what’s his. I want him to come with me on my journey but if I can’t find my path then we’ll both be lost 😊

Your last reading helped me to see that in order to see my path clearly I need to be present with and fully accept all my feelings without judgement, even the scary ones. That’s my business and my path. I have no business trying to control and bring about an outcome for my son with the intention of resisting my scary feelings.

Thanks for helping me to see this stuff more clearly 😊❤

I think our kids are our biggest challenge. I had to let my relationship with my son go and bless him, it was tearing me up to watch his self destructive behavior. I’m sorry he’s sick though, that’s a different story. Good luck with this situation, it will make you a better mom

        Thanks Roni 😊

Thank you, Roni and Caradene, for sharing what you are both facing right now. I’m also glad you’ve found some small yet significant support in each other’s words. Those parts of the journey that test us with finding our own direction can be confusing and painful – I’m writing and feeling that for myself right now. Yet I’ve found that there’s no emotional pain worse than the pain of knowing that at some point I turned my back on myself in favour of someone or something else. It has taken patience, gentleness; patience, gentleness. LOTS of patience! 🙂 Then, when I have simply known in my heart of hearts what I have done, and what I need to do – what I must do – then that’s been my moment of decisive action.
