Oh, I’m excited about this!
Tarot pioneers Marcus Katz and Tali Goodwin have been working behind the scenes on a project for six years, and yesterday, they finally unveiled their vision – for a land called Arkartia.
A collaboration between Katz, Goodwin, and artist Ciro Marchetti, Arkartia will be a virtual, Web-based world where tarot guides and interweaves with your experience and the experience of those in online community with you.
As you know, I’m a vocal proponent of the experiential power of tarot, and its validity as a tool for self-knowledge and expansion. Arkartia will bring this to colourful life as you journey through its landscape and, so doing, journey through the tarot each step you take, with spreads, exercises, challenges, and opportunities to make your own contribution.
There will also be an associated app, the Tarot Wayfarer, providing additional content and tarot spreads using Marchetti’s Tarot Decoratif.
As a Tarot Association member and tarot reader, I was fortunate enough to have a preview of the project, which is now live as a Kickstarter venture. When I clicked on to the Kickstarter site and began to read about it, I wondered why it hadn’t been done before, frankly: it makes perfect sense to me that tarot can not just be learned in an online setting – but lived too, and understood viscerally.
I wish I’d thought of it. Anyway, I’m backing it and I dearly hope that the project gets the funding it needs to come to fruition. And so far so good: after 24 hours, it’s already reached 20% of its funding goal, and that number is climbing by the hour.
Here’s a sneak preview:

Good luck, Marcus, Tali, and Ciro!
